As much as I am a bit sad to say goodbye to the bright, sunny days, autumn has an amazing, peaceful effect on me. 🍂 My mind is instantly transported to moments of snugness under cosy blankets. I can’t wait for rainy days to keep me inside with a cup of hot tea and my mystery books. ☕ 📖 I feel there’s no better excuse than the arrival of autumn to spend more time indoors with our loved ones. Of course I have to make the seasonal transition in my home decor as well. 🙃
However, we needn’t break the bank to do so. We can simply embrace natural elements and make small, thoughtful changes. With a bit of creativity, we can easily create beautiful autumn home decor. So, let’s grab our woolly jumpers, light a candle, and enjoy the process of redecorating our interiors. After all, it’s the season that invites us to slow down in our daily rush. And simply savour the crispness in the air. 🙂
Natural Finds for Seasonal Accents

We can embrace the changing seasons in one of the most delightful ways. Natural finds are such an accessible option for us. Their shape, scent, and colour capture the true essence of autumn. 🙂 They bring with them the cool breeze and earthy fragrance of this time of the year.
So we can take a simple walk through our local parks and discover an abundance of treasures. These can be crimson and gold leaves, pinecones, or acorns. I guarantee they will transform our space into a cosy haven. We can gather these autumnal elements and display them in adorable bowls or vases as rustic centrepieces. The best part of bringing a piece of nature indoors is its authenticity. 🍁
Actually, I remember doing this as a child. I loved to collect leaves in different forms and decorate my room. It made me feel as though I was in harmony with the universe. Now, I realise it was the blessing of connecting with nature. 🫶 Trust me, the most blissful gifts that life has to offer are always free. 🙂
Charming Autumn Decorations

If we aren’t particularly fond of natural autumn offerings, we can easily opt for artificial ones instead. These alternatives are incredibly affordable. Plus, they are far more durable and we can reuse them for years to come. I tend to prefer a combination of both, sprinkling a bit of seasonal decor in every room. There’s something about the sense of cohesion and harmony it brings that truly makes me happy. 🙂
Therefore, we can add some adorable cones in various sizes. Or we can incorporate artificial leaves and flowers to enhance the autumnal vibe. 🍁 A colour that blends seamlessly with any interior is burnt orange. It captures the very essence of autumn, infusing our space with a touch of the season’s magic. It’s as if we’ve bottled a drop of autumn and scattered it throughout our home. Instant magic!
Because it’s also the Halloween period, we should gradually introduce the idea of pumpkins. Until we decide on the real ones to carve, we can decorate with some cute, small artificial ones. I’ve looked at a few, and believe me, they look identical to the real ones. How amazing is that? 🙃
Cosy Textiles for Instant Warmth

As the weather cools, we find ourselves reaching for those softer textiles. A snug, warm blanket will immediately make us feel cosy and at peace. I think these are some of my favourite moments. When I come home and leave the rainy weather behind. ☔ Then, I just relax with dim lighting and plush materials.
The best part is … we don’t even need to splurge on expensive throws or cushions. Instead, we can hunt for budget-friendly options in autumnal tones. We should look for richer, deeper shades to change the look of our home. I love the burnt orange hue or the deep red one. 🧡 They make me feel like I have an infinite symmetry between my home and the outdoors. 🫶
In addition, we can start adding some fluffy throw rugs in different corners of our home. I really like the layering effect of smaller-sized rugs. By doing so, we can step onto softness at any time of the day. We should incorporate more textured fabrics, such as wool, faux fur or velvet. This simple touch not only improves our home’s comfort but also lends a personal, lived-in feel. As we embrace these cosy textiles, we create a space where we can unwind and feel truly at home. 🥰 Even as the chill of autumn settles in. 🧡
Candles for an Ambient Glow

There’s something truly comforting about the gentle flicker of candlelight. Candles are a splendid way to create a cosy atmosphere in any room of our home. Moreover, they are affordable and can be found nearly everywhere. I particularly love the seasonal fragrances, such as cinnamon, vanilla, or spiced apple. For a touch of creativity, we might consider placing our candles in jars or lanterns. Or we can arrange them on wood decorative trays. The soft, glowing light instantly transforms our space into a wonderful autumn retreat. 🕯️
Alternatively, we could opt for LED candles, which offer the added benefit of longevity. Honestly, what I find particularly charming is adorning my bedroom with string lights. This simple addition fills me with a sense of gratitude and profound contentment. The combination of candlelight and fairy lights creates an ambiance that feels truly heavenly. 😇 And they provide the optimal setting for a romantic date night (with our loved one or just by ourselves). I am so looking forward to it. 🙂
Baking Scents for a Homely Feel

One of the nicest methods to make our home feel welcoming and warm is through the sense of smell. Besides, aromatherapy is one of the most affordable forms of therapy, which works incredibly well, I may add. As we all know, autumn is closely linked with baking. So why not fill our home with the soothing fragrances of freshly prepared treats? 🥯 🧁
I have to admit I am not a particularly dedicated baker. But just putting a tray of spiced biscuits or an apple pie into the oven can work wonders. The aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg, and roasting apples drifting through my house is simply delicious. Autumnally delicious. I suppose you’ve figured out by now that my favourite dessert is apple pie, ever since childhood. It reminds me of my mum and her lovely September bakes. 🧡 What’s your favourite? 🙃
But for those of us with limited time in our lives, I have the ideal solution. Every time we get home, we should light a scented incense stick. Or spray the corners of each room with an autumnal mist. The delightful fragrance will instantly instil a sense of cosiness and tranquillity (especially if we choose one with cinnamon 😅).
Updating Artwork with a Seasonal Twist

When autumn arrives, we might consider refreshing the artwork on our walls. We should swap out summery themes for designs that reflect the season. I encourage choosing patterns that feature autumn leaves or pressed flowers. This small adjustment can significantly enhance the mood. Plus, it’s bringing in the rich hues and textures of fall. 🍁 🍂 Or we can add our beloved photos in dark wood frames. The wood will infuse an intense, earthy quality into our decor. This will bring us closer to nature and highlight the arrival of fall.
What I love to do with each change of season is use personal pictures. I look for family photos in autumn settings and stretch them onto canvas. This way, I update the wall art in my home while adding a personal touch to my living space. Anything done with love yields the most enchanting results. 🧡
DIY Wreaths for a Welcoming Entrance

Crafting our own wreaths is a splendid way to personalise our autumn decorations. Not to mention the seasonal flair it will add to our front door. We can begin with a basic wreath base, which we might easily find at a reasonable price. Or we could fashion it ourselves from twigs and vines gathered from our garden. Once we have our base, the real fun begins! We can start to adorn it with autumn leaves, dried flowers, berries, or even tiny pumpkins. 😍
This project provides us with an enjoyable and creative outlet. But it also enables us to infuse our home’s exterior with a vibrant splash of the fall period. We can choose colours and textures that resonate with us. So we can create a wreath that is uniquely ours. 🙂 I even like to hang them in my bathroom, near a mirror or a painting. I suppose I just need to have a bit of autumn in every room of my home. It’s the only way I can feel the gifts of the season in every fibre of my being. 🙂
Furthermore, it’s a great way to involve the whole family, too! So everyone can contribute their own ideas and favourite autumn accents. 🫶 Plus, it could become a cherished tradition as we welcome each new season. So let’s gather our materials, unleash our creativity, and craft our beautiful wreath. Welcome, autumn! ✨
