I have to admit, my hair has been through so many stages along my journey so far. It’s often said that genetics have a big part to play in how our hair changes over time. But I truly believe it’s also deeply tied to our overall health and well being. Like all of us walking this earth, I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs. And sadly, it showed in my hair more than anywhere else. There was a time when it was falling out heavily and became so thin, it hardly felt like mine anymore. 🥹

But deep down, I’ve always been a positive person … someone who doesn’t dwell too long on problems, but looks for ways to put things right. I knew it was up to me to help my hair regain its strength.And, just as importantly, find little ways to feel good about myself in the process. So, I started looking for products to help add volume to thin hair. I was trying to recreate that effortless fullness I once had. 🤍

Well … they say fake it till you make it, don’t they?😅 Every day, I would simply picture my hair as it looked in my younger years. And, to my surprise, the wonderful products I discovered really helped me forget. Even just for a little while … about the struggles my hair was going through. Now, it’s beginning to look better and better, though there’s still a long way to go. In the meantime, I’m being patient and holding onto the confidence that I’ll achieve the results I’m hoping for.

The name of this hair product says it all, really. When I first tried it, I thought the vibrant packaging and daring name sounded promising. But it wasn’t until I actually used it that I was genuinely impressed. You simply spray a generous amount onto damp hair (or even dry) then blow-dry it through. I’ll insert a little video here as well, just so you can get an idea of the method I use to get the very best out of this volume spray. 💇

It lasted me quite a while too, and of course, I had to repurchase it. In fact, I honestly can’t imagine my hair routine without this Bed Head Spray now. I’d say it does exactly what it promises … it gives my hair incredible volume for the day and it makes it look fuller and thicker. Admittedly, it tends to lose a bit of its fullness overnight. But the good news is, I can easily revive it the next morning with another quick spritz. 🙃

And the best part? It smells absolutely gorgeous … fresh, fruity, and instantly uplifting. It never fails to put me in a good mood. The secret lies in learning how to work it best for your hair’s needs. Believe me, you’ll love it. I honestly can’t even remember how I used to style my hair before discovering this Bed Head gem. 😉

Totex powder wax

I just noticed 😋 … I’m writing about my products in the exact order I use them, covering both my wash‑day ritual and my styling routine afterwards. At first, I was a little hesitant to try this powder wax. Partly because it’s marketed as a men’s styling product 😅, and partly because I’d never used anything like it before. However, I’m so glad I took the plunge. 🙂

Just a tiny sprinkle of Totex powder wax on my roots goes a long way. It adds even more lift after using the Bed Head Queen For a Day spray all day and helps that volume last for many more hours. It’s like a flexible hold that simultaneously makes my hair look fuller and thicker. When I was younger, I used to detest wax styling because it felt greasy and sticky. But in this powder form it’s completely different. Just one word of advice: be sparing with how much you sprinkle. A little truly does go a very long way. 🙃

I love using it on dry hair … I find it gives me far more control over the texture. It’s also my secret weapon for up‑dos, lending that effortless, voluminous finish to my roots every time. Plus, it’s completely scent‑free, so we won’t be put off by any overpowering, masculine fragrance. It’s simply a handy tool to master on thin hair and get the very best out of it. Vo5 Volume Hairspray

Trust me when I say, I’ve probably tried just about every hairspray you can find at the drugstore. I’ll admit, I’m a bit particular when it comes to this step. I’ve actually been using this one since my teenage years, so by now, I’ve gathered a fair bit of experience. I want my hairspray to smell amazing, hold my hair in place, and still look flexible and natural. I know… it might sound like a lot to ask.😋 Especially when it comes to adding volume to thin hair … but I wouldn’t be talking about VO5 Hairspray if it wasn’t part of my regular routine (if not daily 😅).

I usually go for VO5 in strength 3 because it gives me the exact texture I’m after. It adds plenty of volume, yet my hair remains brushable afterwards. You know … just in case I fancy switching up my style later on (which, let’s be honest, I often do 😋). It’s flexible, it’s gentle on my hair, and it keeps everything in place without feeling stiff or heavy.

And let’s not forget the scent … that gorgeous coconut fragrance!🥥 Every time I spray it, it takes me back to a little moment from every exotic holiday I’ve ever had. For me, it was love at first spritz. I’ve also got it in strength 2 and 4, for those days when I feel like changing things up a bit. But honestly, whichever one you choose, I’d completely recommend giving it a try, you won’t regret it. 😊

Hair extensions

We all have those special occasions when we want to feel a little more glamorous. For me, it might be something as simple as a dinner date with my boyfriend or a girls’ night out. Either way, my go-to has always been the help of hair extensions. I personally opt for clip-ins because they’re so easy to manage and perfect for occasional use. They’re not a long-term commitment, and when worn now and then, they don’t damage thin hair. 💇

Another thing I always look out for is the quality of the clips. I prefer a strong grip so they don’t tug at my natural hair or slip out halfway through the night. And a little tip … don’t overdo it. The good news for me is that I’m a natural brunette, so finding my shade in real human hair extensions is incredibly easy. And when they’re in, you honestly can’t tell they’re there (even my boyfriend doesn’t notice). But then again… we know how men are, they rarely pick up on these things! 😅 😋

The right hair tools

You know those French commercials… the ones where women wake up with absolutely impeccable hair, as if their pillow was some kind of magical styling tool? Yeah… that doesn’t exist. In reality, we all wake up with the most unflattering hairstyles. And that’s completely fine, as long as we’ve got the right tools to sort it out afterwards.

I once heard someone say that having the right tools is eighty percent of the job done, and honestly, it stuck with me. I, for example, have wavy to curly hair, but on those unfortunate days, it seems to lose all its volume and texture. That’s when a curler or a hair waver becomes an absolute lifesaver. They help me re-establish the natural texture of my hair and add a lovely bit of body. And after styling, I love to brush it through … the volume and fullness I get are almost unbelievable. 🙃

Another tool that’s crucial for the health of fine hair is a good hairdryer. It’s so important to set it on a low temperature because the last thing we need is to add unnecessary heat stress. Sure, it might sound like a bit of work, but in the end … it’s about how we look.
