When I was younger, I loved using bold makeup and experimenting with all kinds of colours. I remember that some of my favourites were pink, purple, and blue, in various shades. I suppose maturing is realising that my beauty has nothing to do with the amount of makeup I wear. Instead, it’s directly linked to my inner peace and self-acceptance. Not to drown myself in clichés, but beauty truly does come from within. 😊
However, that doesn’t mean I go makeup-free like Pamela Anderson. 💓 I suppose my self-acceptance does have its limits. 😅 Or maybe I just need to wait for the next stages of maturing… who knows, right? But now I wear minimal makeup on a daily basis. I like to look clean and fresh. Though I wouldn’t dare to say flawless … because I don’t think anyone’s reached that point … yet. 👀
I only use a handful of items that have worked for me throughout the years. The best part is that they’re super affordable makeup products and easy to find. Now, I use just enough makeup to wake up my sleepy face in the morning, not to hide anything. That’s the beauty of being 36 years old. You don’t have anything to hide anymore, or at least you shouldn’t. But that’s a conversation for another day. For now, let’s just focus on the items I need to keep myself presentable day by day.

Since I was 20 years old, my favourite cosmetic brand has been Rimmel. I’m not saying I haven’t tried other brands, because I’ve tried half of what’s out there. But nothing has stuck with me as much as this one. I think I’ve already developed a personal connection with the brand. I simply love all their products, both new and old. Not to mention the sweet memories I have from my younger years! I can almost remember every single time I’d put on makeup and go out to enjoy my youthful lifestyle. 💃 But this is neither the place nor the time for nostalgic reminiscing. Let’s talk seriously. 😀
I love using foundation on my skin, just a light layer to add a couple of years’ boost. But I’ve never been a fan of thick, full-coverage foundation. They just feel too heavy on my face. The second step in my daily routine is applying powder after I’ve applied my foundation. This is essential for me, as I have oily skin, and applying powder helps my makeup last throughout the day. I know some people love the look of dewy skin. I mean, I love Hailey Bieber’s makeup routine as well. But the thing is, she has dry skin, so it’s normal for her to prefer a glowy finish. For the rest of us, trust me, the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder is an amazing choice. 😉

NYX The Brow Glue
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’ve always had a battle with my eyebrows. I’ve changed my routine multiple times and even tried an enormous number of different products, yet I never seemed completely happy with the results. Okay… maybe it’s partly my fault, as I’m a bit of a perfectionist. 😅 Nevertheless, a few years back, I finally found my perfect brow routine and the makeup products to make it possible, evidently.
When the pandemic started, I decided to let my eyebrows regrow to their natural shape. Still, they didn’t look quite as cute as they did when I was seven years old. 😀 That was when I discovered the NYX Brow Glue. I can’t even begin to describe how amazing this product is. It holds my eyebrows in place all day, until I take my makeup off, in any shape or form I decide.
Its unique gel formula goes on clear, and it really lives up to its name! On a daily basis, I’m all about a cute and subtle natural makeup look. That applies to every part of my routine—face, eyes, lips, and so on. Now, this is a personal favourite of mine since I was 20 years old. Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush has the most adorable packaging I have ever seen. All their shades are indescribably beautiful, and they have a delicious fragrance as well. Besides, I can literally take it with me everywhere! It can fit even in the smallest pocket. 😍
What I love most about this blush is its lightweight texture. But don’t get confused … it is buildable too, if you prefer a more intense blush look. For me, just a little bit goes a long way. On a daily basis, this is the most vibrant colour I apply on my face, and it makes an enormous difference. I look more alive and even sweeter after two strokes of Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush. 😊
Among all the shades, my absolute favourite would have to be the classic Rose D’or. 💗 I even apply it on my eyelids and a little on my nose, and it instantly looks like I’ve been touched by the sun. If I could describe it in one word: ineffable. Just kidding 😋… it’s essential!
Rimmel Insta Strobing Highlighter
What would life be without a little bit of glow? I can’t even imagine, to be brutally frank. The role of highlighter, in my opinion, is indisputable in our makeup routine. It gives us glamour, chicness, and a sparkling femininity. In my day-to-day appearance, I prefer to use Rimmel Insta Strobing Highlighter. It is a liquid variant, but it is so subtle and incredibly lightweight. For me, who prefers a matte finish, this sprinkle of radiance on my cheeks creates just the perfect balance. 😍
But wait… I even use it on my brow bones, down the bridge of my nose, and on my neck. Basically, you can use it however you want. I promise the first thing you will notice is its creamy texture, which glides on effortlessly. My most used shade is Pink Glow, but every now and then I enjoy mixing the colours a bit.
