Best affordable ideas for a black and blush pink bedroom

By now, we all know (or should know 🤭) that a big part of life is deeply connected to making concessions. In our relationships, our work, and even our passions, this principle is widely applicable. In the same way, I see an amazing black and blush pink bedroom decor combination. I never even thought of it before living with my boyfriend. Perhaps because I’m a really “girly” girl who loves pink, white, and everything nice. 💕 But as we needed to compromise, this became the best option for both of us.

You know… black to express his strength and masculinity, and blush pink… well, to express myself. However, now I see black from a totally different perspective. I think it’s sexy, seductive, and overwhelmingly feminine. But … 🤫 men don’t need to know that. Plus, there are so many incredible ways to decorate our bedroom using this mix of hues. If you’ve never thought of a black and blush pink bedroom design until now, I totally recommend giving it a try. I can honestly say it will quickly become addictive. 😉

  • Let the bed take the spotlight

One of the easiest and, in my opinion, most fashionable ways to draw the line between the two tones is to focus on our bed. I actually consider it to be the most imposing piece of our bedroom. So, maybe a black velvet bed would be the number one option in terms of maintaining it and making it visually appealing. Of course, we need to ensure that we add a splash of blush pink through bedding or layers of blankets, or by carefully combining them. The idea is to give enough power to both tones. Just… to avoid any conflicts. 😁

If we’re more inclined to the girly side, we can always go with a blush pink velvet bed. Or, to settle the score a little bit, maybe opt for a blush pink leather one. I somehow associate the smell and look of leather with a masculine feel. Besides, it looks really elegant and super stylish. Imagine opting for a black leather king size bed. Right there, it’s what I call a full house … or whatever poker fanatics call it. 😀 My boyfriend should definitely know.

  • Blankets and bedding, cushions for spreading

This is quite fun, and it doesn’t even matter the colour we choose for our bed. Our bedding should be in both blush pink and black. I find that using just one single hue is too overpowering for our eyes. So maybe think of a black duvet cover and carelessly throw on a blush pink knitted blanket. The idea is to use layers to achieve the optical effect that is correctly balanced. Plus, it will look so cosy and snuggly. I’m literally smiling right now while writing about it. Now, at the age I am, it’s one of my favourite moments (cuddling beneath my soft throws 🤭).

Another aspect we cannot ignore is the impact that some cute, chic cushions can make. Whether we add them after making our bed or actually use them for comfort or hugs (like I do 😅), they really make a difference to our bedroom decor. Here, we can play with materials, textures, and sizes, while also keeping the harmony between the two colours. Remember, this “balance” is not something that is pre-determined by external design rules. No, it’s what is best for our optical comfort. So simple. 🙂

  • The art of art

How would our walls feel if they were left naked and cold? It’s a nice metaphor, but I’m also quite serious. We have to personalise our home with art that we like, that inspires us, that speaks to us. I had the opportunity to share a house with a painting artist when I was in my twenties. 😊 I saw her painting, and the level of dedication, talent, and creativity it requires. Now I know that a simple piece of art embodies such unknown and deep emotions. Trust your instincts … if you connect with a painting straight away, have it on your walls. Because in this enormous world, it’s all about energy, and as Pablo Picasso said: “It’s all connected.” 🔗

We can opt for black-and-white portraits to adhere to our room’s pattern or choose more lively ones with blush pink flowers and black frames. To be fair, the possibilities are endless. Whatever we like … abstract, landscapes, or portraits … are all within reach nowadays. It would be an absolute shame not to take advantage of this and beautify the confines of our space. What kind of art do you like in particular? 🤩

  • Light it up

What I simply adore doing is playing with the lighting in my bedroom. That’s exactly why I always make sure to have different sources of illumination. I totally recommend you do the same! For those nights when we want a more romantic atmosphere, or those days when we want to watch a movie and feel like we’re inside a cinema, varied lighting makes all the difference.

Luckily, this also gives us the perfect occasion to spice things up with our two colours: black and blush pink. I’d suggest going for some glossy black bedside lamps and adorable pink candles. They would totally help create that cosy, staying-in ambiance.

As for the chandelier, it’s entirely up to our imagination and taste. Maybe something dark, maybe something girly, or maybe a mix of both … who knows? Let your creativity take the lead and decide based on your own ideas. Simply have fun with the freedom we have during this bedroom decorating phase!

  • Curtains and Rugs, Soft as Hugs

These two accessories are what give a space its “homely” feeling. Because if we think about it, it’s all about the senses of our body and how we adjust them according to our needs. We come home after an exhausting day, needing the fluffiness and softness of a rug to relax our legs and prepare for the unwinding phase. Taking a hot shower, putting on comfy clothes, and simply stopping our thoughts from drifting to anything outside our home. 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️ We close the curtains to bathe ourselves in that splash of intimacy and privacy. Or how we need to open the curtains in the morning to deeply inhale the light of day.

I believe all these tiny steps are part of a ritual that helps keep us sane in this busy world. So, I suppose these two are not optional. We need them in our bedroom decor, and we are free to decide whether we want them in black, blush pink, or a mix of both. Whichever design is closest to our heart. 💖

  • Play around with furniture

Every bedroom needs some essential pieces of furniture and a few that really spruce up the space. We can think of black or pink bedside tables. One detail I’d really like to suggest here is the incorporation of gold metallic accents. Especially, a black-and-gold bedside table would bring glamour to the highest level. I think this would actually be my preferred choice.

Additionally, we could include a black wardrobe with mirrored sliding doors. The mirrors would also create the illusion of more space, making it a double win with this type of furniture. Plus, it’s going to eliminate the need to buy a full-length mirror. I absolutely love being practical while decorating my home. 😊

My personal favourite is placing an ottoman bench at the foot of the bed. It’s incredibly functional as it doubles as a storage space while also serving as a stylish seating area. I always like to match it with my bed’s material, so it would either be leather or velvet … pink or black. Who knows? 😁

  • Additions that make us smile

What makes me smile is having vases with flowers around me. So, it’s essential to add this tiny detail to my bedroom too … small ceramic vases with adorable artificial flowers. I’ll go all blush pink for this one, but you could opt for black or a juicy blend of both.

Another addition I discovered a while ago is the presence of lantern candle holders. I simply adore them. Depending on their size, they can decorate a table, a vanity unit, or even our floor. They somehow blend the vintage look with the modern one. Besides, they seem quite unique to me. And, of course, inside them, we can add scented candles or battery-operated ones. We can play a bit with our colour scheme while maintaining that visual symmetry we long for.

The last touch we could implement in our bedroom design is the actual colour. What I mean is that we could paint one of our walls in blush pink or black, focusing just on an accent wall and leaving the rest of the walls in neutral colours. I, for example, also love the idea of making the ceiling the centre of attention. I would definitely choose a blush pink ceiling with a high-gloss black chandelier. Just thinking of the contrast makes me want to go look for paint shades right now. Maybe I will… 😋

And you? How would you envision this in your space?
